[Effects of microwave radiation on thymocytes in mice at different power densities].

Compared with controls, mice exposed to 2,450 MHz microwaves showed lower body weight at 5 and 15 mW/cm^2, pathological changes in thymus, higher CD8 expression at 5 and 15 mW/cm^2, lower G2+M phase thymocytes at 5 and 15 mW/cm^2, and higher thymocyte apoptos…

[Studies on the injury effects of hippocampus induced by high power microwave radiation in rat].

After high power microwave radiation, rats showed significantly reduced learning and memory performance. Hippocampal injury findings included rarefaction, edema, hemangiectasia, neuronal degeneration/necrosis, and decreased/disappearing Nissl bodies; apoptosi…

An examination of the effect of an AC pulsed electric field on cell mortality in SWLA-2 hybridomas.

AC electric field pulses estimated to produce at least 1 V across the cell membrane appeared more effective at producing cell lysis than fields producing lower membrane voltages. At membrane voltages above 1 V, higher frequencies (in the 10 kHz range) appeare…

An examination of the effect of decaying exponential pulse electric fields on cell mortality in murine spleenocytes, hybridomas, and human natural killer cells.

Exponentially decaying electric field pulses produced substantial cell lysis/mortality across three cultured cell types. At 0.3 kV, murine spleenocytes showed ~50% mortality at 24 hours and ~25% viable cells at 48 hours. Other cell types showed mortality cons…

A possible mechanism explaining variation in membrane permeability under exposure to weak magnetic fields.

A mechanism based on Larmor precession theory is proposed, with the interaction target located in charged lipid groups emerging from the membrane surface. The results indicate that specific exposure conditions may enhance membrane permeability.
